Nueve meses ya!/Nine months already!
Jordi ya ha cumplido 9 meses, tiene cinco dientes, cuatro arriba y uno solitario abajo (aunque la pareja está al caer!), gatea desde los siete meses y medio, se sienta, se pone de pie... no para! Hay que estar todo el rato a su lado, cuando estuvimos de vacaciones en Barcelona los abuelos pudieron disfrutar de ponerle la mano en la espalda para que no se cayera para atrás, debieron acabar agotados!
Jordi is nine months old, has five teeth (4 up and one down, although soon the second bottom one will poke through!), he has been properly crawling "in due form" for a couple of months now, and he even cruises the furniture like a pro. Ah, y unas fotos de las vacaciones para que veáis también a Edda, jugando al fútbol (de portera) y dando de comer a las palomas! Por cierto, ahora se ha apuntado a clases de básket los martes por la tarde, y le gusta mucho, ella eso de hacer ballet no le dice mucho, nos ha salido machota.
Oh and some pictures of Edda, she is a super big sister. She likes playing football and feeding the pigeons in Barcelona, much to her dad´s dismay! She is now going to basketball lesson on Tuesdays and loves it, she does not want to know anything about ballet or the like, quite a tomboy this girl!
Navidad en Islandia
Este año estamos pasando las navidades en Islandia para que Jordi conozca a la familia, a Edda le hizo mucha ilusión ver que ya había nieve, porque en Luxemburgo todavía no hemos tenido este invierno. Con el tiempo, hemos pasado mucho rato en casa, Jordi practicando el gateo que ya casi casi se lanza -bueno, lanzarse es precisamente lo que hace, en vez de avanzar una rodilla y un brazo y luego el otro! Se pasa las horas de rodillas y diciendo "e-da e-da e-da", y la otra encantada mirándolo.
This year we've spent Christmas in Iceland, it is the first time here for Jordi. Edda is loving the snow, as in Luxembourg we still have not had any. With the weather we have spent plenty of time at home, Jordi on his fours trying to crawl and saying e-da e-da e-da, and the other one loving it!
Arbol de Navidad y otras fotos / Christmas tree and other pictures
Hoy hemos puesto el árbol de Navidad, han ido a comprarlo Edda con su padre, y lo han decorado los dos también, les ha quedado muy bien. La semana que viene volamos a Islandia, había que espabilar o igual papa noel se despista y no pasa por aquí! Hace varias semanas que no ponemos fotos (desde octubre!), esto de trabajar y tener dos hijos ocupa mucho tiempo. Entre tanto, nos han visitado los abuelos, que asistieron a la première de la papilla para Jordi el día que cumplió los cinco meses, hemos ido a Francoforte a ver al hermano de Birgir y su madre, y han estado aquí la favoritísima tía Adela y David!!!! Jordi ya se aguanta sentado unos minutos y se pasa ratos y ratos a cuatro patas intentado resolver el misterio del gateo, avanza tirándose hacia delante por las bravas!
Today Edda and her dad went to buy the Christmas tree and decorated it all, it looks fantastic. Next week we are flying to Iceland, so we had to get ready or othewise Father Christmas might miss the house! It has been a while since I had posted any pictures, being a busy mum of two does not leave much time free! In this time we have had my parents here, where they witnessed Jordi's first spoonfuls of apple puree, we went to Frankfurt to see Reynir, Kristin and Amma, and then my sister Adela and David stopped by here. Jordi is constantly on his knees trying to work out how to crawl, for the time being he simply launches himself forward... which may be slightly dangerous, thankfully he does not have teeth yet!
La vuelta al cole / Back to school
El día 15 de setiembre empezó el colegio otra vez, ahora Edda va a segundo de prescolar, por lo que es de las MAYORES de su módulo y está orgullosísima. Nos ha contado que ahora ya es "mariposa", parece ser que el año pasado era "oruga" y nosotros sin enterarnos! El año que viene irá a la escuela primaria y ya está preocupada porque allí se trabaja mucho y ya no juegan en clase! Lo mejor de la vuelta al cole ha sido la cartera de Spiderman, que le compraron los abuelos en Barcelona. Va requetecontenta con ella. También está muy ilusionada con los estuches para lápices, este año necesita dos, uno para el cole y otro para... música! Hace una hora de música los jueves por la tarde y va encantada.
On 15th September Edda went back to school, she is now a Butterfly (apparently last year she was a caterpillar but we were none the wiser), ie she´s one of the big kids at preschool. Next year "real" school starts and she´s rather worried that they do work very hard there and there will be no more playing! Her most favourite thing about going back to school has been her new Spiderman bag, kindly bought by the grandparents in Spain, she´s not the most feminine of little girls, is she? She also has two pencil cases, one for class and another one for music lessons, which she takes once a week and is thrilled with.
Vacaciones / Holidays
Este verano hemos estado en Barcelona unos días y dos semanas en Begur. Alquilamos en el mismo edificio dos pisos, uno para nosotros y otro para los abuelos, y estuvimos de maravilla. La piscina estaba a dos escalones de la terraza de nuestro apartamento, y Edda pasó horas y horas disfrutando del agua. Ha aprendido a bucear sin burbujita ni flotadores en los brazos, o sea que ya falta poquito para que sepa nadar también! Aunque no se aprecia en las fotos, ni en el contraste con su madre que se puso muy muy morena, Edda también cogió colorcito y se le nota todavía la marca del bañador!!
This summer we went to Barcelona for a few days and then two weeks in Begur, in the Costa Brava. We rented two flats, one for us and one for the grandparents, in the same building, which was a good move! There was a swimming pool two steps down from our terrace, and Edda spent most of the holiday in the water. She has learnt to swim under the water without any floating devices, soon she should be able to be able to swim properly as well. She got rather tanned for her light skin, still now you can see the marks of the swimming suit on her skin!
Fuimos a la playa un par de veces, pero entre que la arena quemaba y la sal pica en los ojos, y puede haber peces... Eddda prefería la piscina! En Begur había un sitio de esos que hacen la pedicura con peces que te quitan las pielecitas, y creo yo que a Edda le daba un nosequé pensar que en el mar también te podían morder los pies! Además de juegos acuáticos, también visitamos el castillo de Dalí en Púbol -a Edda le encantaron el trono de Dalí y el jardín con los elefantes de patas largas; fuimos una tarde a L'Escala y paseamos mucho por el pueblo.
We went to the beach a couple of times, but what with the hot sand, the salty water and the fish in the sea Edda was not too convinced... in Begur there was a place that had those fish that do a pedicure by eating the skin on your feet and she was a bit freaked out to be honest! We also visited the Púbol castle where Dalí spent his last days, and Edda loved the throne and the elephants with long legs in the garden; we went to L'Escala one afternoon and managed to find THE toy she had been asking for all holiday, so she was over the moon with her BeyBlade (or whatever it is called, some sort of spinning toy).
Uno de los fines de semana hubo la Feria de los Indianos, y pusieron juegos de habilidad en el patio de la antigua escuela, y allí pasamos horas y horas jugando, una maravilla para los niños y sin ser el típico castillo hinchable, sino juegos en los que había que pensar y probar muchas veces para poder hacerlos. Hubo una cantada de habaneras, y puestecitos por las calles, y la abuela y yo visitamos una casa indiana que suele estar cerrada al público, estuvo muy bien.
On one of the weekends there was the Indians Fair, dedicated to the people in Begur that had gone to Cuba and come back rich at the end of the XIX century. It was great, plenty to do for the kids and lots of music, market stalls etc. My mum and I visited an old house which is normally closed to the public, it was fantastic.
Durante las vacaciones hemos podido hacer fotos con los abuelos, que faltaban para el álbum! Aquí están con Edda en un barco que anunciaba el fin se semana de los Indianos en Begur, y con Jordi también en el apartamento.
During the holiday we could finally take some pictures of the grandparents with the kids!
Sonrisas / Smiles
Jordi ya sonríe y hasta se ríe, sobre todo a su hermanita Edda! Ayer fui a pesarle otra vez (sigue cogiendo peso, ya está en 5.95 kg) y estuvo intercambiando sonrisas con los otros bebés que estaban allí. Otras noticias: ha empezado a tomar leche en biberón (Birgir y su madre lo intentaron cuando yo estaba en la piscina con Edda y esta vez funcionó!), y la noche pasada durmió siete horas seguidas, de nueve y media a cuatro y media, a ver si lo repite a menudo! El viernes iremos a ponerle las primeras vacunas, esperemos que no le hagan mucha reacción.
Jordi already smiles and even attempts to laugh, especially with his sister Edda! Yesterday I went to weigh him (already 5.95kg!) and he was exchanging smiles with the other babies non-stop! Other news: he took a bottle (I was out with Edda swimming), and the night before last he slept seven hours, from 21.30 to 4.30, hopefully he will repeat this often!

Jordi ha empezado a sonreir! No tenemos todavía ninguna foto con sonrisa a lo grande, pero ahí va una con la media sonrisita que le hizo a su mami para felicitarla por su cumpleaños. El lunes pasado fuimos a la pediatra, y sigue creciendo a buen ritmo, ya pesa 5,250 kg y mide 59 cm, la ropita de un mes ya no le cabe, y suerte que no teníamos de talla recién nacido!
Jordi smiles already, we haven´t yet caught a full gummy smile on camera yet, but here goes a shot with the lovely smile he gave his mummy as a birthday present -helped by the cuddles given by daddy! Last Monday we went to the pediatrician and he continues to grow at astonishing speed, he is already 5.250 kg and measures 59 cm, hee is out of the 1-month-old clothes, thank goodness we did not even have any in newborn sizes!
Ayer fue mi cumple, y Edda la fotógrafa nos hizo dos fotos a Jordi y a mi, están un poco borrosas pero no se le da mal! Para los que no hayan estado en casa últimamente, con las sillas rojas estamos en la parte de arriba del comedor, que ya está casi terminada! Me regalaron el Wii Fit a ver si me pongo en forma, y el papel de envolver el regalo es una creación única de Edda y su padre para la ocasión, pintado a mano :)
Yesterday it was my birthday, and Edda the photographer took two pictures of her brother and myself, a bit out of focus but not bad for a first effort! For those who have not been home lately, we are on the upper part of the living room, which is practically finished! For my birthday I got the Wii Fit, see if I get a bit fitter and loose the baby weight soon, and the wrapping paper was a unique hand-crafted creation by Edda & Birgir!
